Today, I invite you to join me in creating a charming heart-shaped wooden pendant with a small vase – a decorative sign in a rustic country style. This simple yet effective piece will add a personal touch to any room and is also a joy for anyone who enjoys being creative. And the best part? We hardly need any materials.
Materials needed:
- Old piece of wood
- Heart-shaped template
- jigsaw
- sandpaper
- Dark color
- Decorative ribbon (e.g., coconut ribbon)

- Small vase (e.g., salad dressing container, test tube, liqueur bottle)
- Lace decorative ribbon
- wire
Step 1: Loving design – conjure a heart shape onto the wood
- Begin your creative adventure by drawing a heart shape onto the old wood. Let your imagination run wild and design the shape as you wish.
Step 2: Precise handwork – Carefully sawing out the shape
- Take a jigsaw and precisely cut the shape of your decorative sign out of the wood. You can gently trace the contours to create a harmonious heart shape.
Step 3: Charming aging – sanding and painting for the shabby chic look
- Give the sign character by sanding the sawn edges. Then apply a dark paint to the lighter sawn edges to give the wood an aged look. Sand lightly in between to achieve the charming shabby chic effect.
Step 4: Elegant finish – decorative ribbon and coconut ribbon
- Drill two holes at the top and thread a decorative ribbon, such as coconut ribbon, through them. Tie it together at the back to give the sign a rustic hanging mechanism.

- Choose a small vase, perhaps made from an old salad dressing bottle, a test tube, or a liqueur bottle. Wrap some decorative ribbon with lace around the vase to give it a delicate frame.
