Do you have some old glass bottles lying around unused? Then it's time to transform them into something special! In this DIY project, we'll create stylish boho candle holders and vases from simple glass bottles. This creative upcycling idea not only adds a personal touch to your home but is also a wonderful way to breathe new life into old objects. Let's get started together and create unique decorative pieces from these everyday items.
Materials needed:
- Old glass bottles
- 8 threads of equal length (e.g. jute, cotton or hemp)
- Scissors
- Lace band
- glue
- A shell or a similar decorative element
- Optional: Candle holder that fits inside the glass bottle
Step 1: Cut the threads
- Start by cutting eight threads of equal length. The threads should be long enough to double over and wrap around the neck of the bottle, leaving about 10-15 cm hanging down.
Step 2: Attach the threads
- Fold the threads in half and secure them around the bottle neck with a slip knot. Make sure the knot is tight so nothing slips.
Step 3: Knot the threads
- Now you will begin knotting the threads together. Start right at the neck of the bottle: Hold both ends of the first thread and tie the first end of the second thread around them. Continue by taking the other end of the second thread in your hand as well and making a knot with the first end of the third thread. Repeat this process until you reach the bottom of the vase. You can also make a few additional knots here if you like.
Step 4: Attach the tip
- Glue some old lace ribbon around the bottom of the vase. This will give your boho candle holder or vase an extra touch of elegance and romance.
Step 5: Place threads over the top
- Gently lay the threads over the lace and tie them securely with an extra thread. Make sure everything looks even and neat.
Step 6: Add decorative element
- As a final touch, glue a seashell or another pretty decorative element onto the threads. This step gives the candle holder or vase a distinctive boho feel.
Step 7: Insert candle holder (optional)
- If you wish to use a candle holder, insert it into the glass bottle now. Ensure that the candle holder is secure and that the candle stands safely.
