Material:
- 7 boards
- screws
- saw
- sandpaper
- Color
- Paint brush
- Vintage hinges
Step 1: Cutting the main boards
- Start by sawing five boards to your desired height. Tip: Take your time to ensure all boards are the same length and reach the desired height.
Step 2: Attaching the stability boards
- Arrange the sawn boards side by side and attach boards at equal intervals both at the top and bottom. This will not only give your shutters stability but also a harmonious look.
Step 3: Diagonal board for added stability
- Now measure the diagonal distance between the stabilizing boards. Next, cut one board at an angle (approximately 45 degrees). Attach this board diagonally to the supporting boards using screws. This not only provides additional stability but also creates the typical look of country-style shutters.
Step 4: Preparation for coloring
- Once the frame is assembled, take your time to sand it to achieve a smooth surface. Then remove the resulting dust and paint the shutters in your desired color. Let your creativity flow!
Step 5: Attaching the vintage hinges
- Complete your shutters by attaching the characteristic vintage hinges to the top and bottom of the stabilizing boards. These small details give your shutters the perfect country-house charm.
Step 5: Attaching the vintage hinges
- Finally, you can decorate the shutters in a way typical for the season, for example with a wreath of hydrangeas.
And your shutters are finished! Enjoy the sight of your handcrafted masterpieces!
