Welcome to our unique DIY project, where we'll create a rustic, country-style tray together. We've all been there: breakfast in the garden often ends up with more food than one person can carry. A practical tray with handles is a must! Dive into the world of crafting as we create a practical and stylish accessory for your home. Let's get started!
Material:
- A board of your choice
- sandpaper
- Wood oil
- Old leather belt or fittings
- screws
Step 1: Cutting the board
- Start by cutting the board to the required size. Here you can let your creativity run wild and adjust the dimensions entirely to your liking.
Step 2: Careful sanding and rounding of the corners
- After cutting, it's important to sand the board thoroughly to create a smooth surface. We recommend slightly rounding off the sharp corners for comfortable handling.
Step 3: Sealing with wood oil
- Give your tray an attractive shine and protect the wood by sealing it with wood oil. This not only gives it a beautiful appearance but also protects it from external influences.
Step 4: Cutting and greasing the carrying handles
- Cut carrying handles from an old leather strap and treat them with grease to ensure they last and have an authentic look. Tip: Make sure to leave enough room for your hands. Alternatively, you can use old hardware, for example from a cabinet.
Step 5: Mounting the handles
- Now all that's missing is the finishing touch! Attach the prepared carrying handles or fittings to your tray using screws. Make sure they are securely and firmly attached.
