Does a vintage vanity fit in a modern bathroom?

Absolutely! A vintage vanity can be beautifully integrated into a modern bathroom while adding a unique, stylish touch. Four good reasons for the popular mix-and-match trend: Contrast and individuality: The use of a vintage washbasin creates an interesting contrast to the modern elements in the bathroom and gives the room an individual touch that stands out from usual furniture store standards. Timeless Elegance: Vintage designs are timeless and elegant. A vintage vanity can therefore bring a touch of class and sophistication to a modern bathroom. Functionality: Our vintage washbasins are combined with a modern, high-quality ceramic basin. The drawers and compartments are converted so that they offer plenty of storage space and are easy to use. If desired, we can equip the drawers with compartments. Sustainability: Reusing vintage furniture contributes to sustainability by conserving resources. This aspect is more modern than any supposedly fashionable piece of furniture, which usually has to be sorted out after a few years, while our design classics easily survive the next 50 years.

What does vintage mean?

Vintage is a word from English that means “old-fashioned”, “old”, “classic”, “from a certain time”. So it's a very broad term. So generally speaking, "vintage" refers to something from a bygone era, but it is often used in the context of positive aspects such as quality, aesthetics and timeless style. Older furniture is considered vintage if it is considered particularly valuable or appealing due to its design, craftsmanship or rarity.

What is the difference between vintage furniture and antiques?

When it comes to furniture, experts differentiate between vintage and antique. A piece of furniture that is at least 40, and often 60 or 70 years old is called "vintage", whereas we only speak of antiques if it is around 100 years old. However, since this definition is rather unknown and the terms "antique" and "vintage" are often used as synonyms, we have on this page both our few vintage pieces of furniture (e.g. the Warrings-Chippendale chests of drawers) and the numerous older chests of drawers, that have survived for 100 or even 200 years, united on one side.
